Yet Meghan and Ash's detour does not go unnoticed. They have caught the attention of an ancient, powerful hunter--a foe that even Ash may not be able to defeat.... 4.5 stars, what happens after Meghan leaves her house but before she gets to the Winter Court... June 12, 2010 K. Eckert (Minneapolis, MN) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I read The Iron King (Harlequin Teen) and loved it. Then I got an advanced digital copy of the The Iron Daughter (Harlequin Teen) and loved that as well. So when I saw Kagawa had released a short story that takes place in the time that passes between those two books I was excited! This was a great little story. I got my copy of this story through [...]
This story tells about what happens to Ash and Meghan after they leave her house but before they get to the Winter Court. Ash and Meghan are being hunted by something dark, determined, and evil. Can they make to the safety of Winter's Realm before it catches them?
If you liked The Iron King you will like this story. Kagawa writes it in the same action-packed, edgy, and engaging style that she her previous book. This book also fills out a little more about what happens between Ash and Meghan to makes things super tense when they are in the Winter Court, in The Iron Daughter.
I really enjoyed the story. I read it on my Kindle and it was a great read. It is just a novella though and, at 60 some pages long, only takes an hour or two to read. Still it is a nice interlude to hold you through until you can read The Iron Daughter. Which by the way is an excellent book too. I am very impressed with Kagawa's writing, I love how she leaves all the bad, gritty things in fairy with all the good.
a good transition June 18, 2010 H. Gilbert (Hawaii) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this novella, as far as when the story would begin. It begins right where we left off with Meghan and is a great little adventure as she and Ash make their way to the Winter Court. Looking forward to the next book!
Wow...best short I've read in a long time June 23, 2010 S. McCullough (Indianapolis, IN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
"Winter's Passage" is incredible for what it is. A short story (this isn't long enough to be novella) that is offered for FREE on Kindle. The story is the 'in between' that links "The Iron King" and the "Iron Daughter". Megan Chase just learned that she is half human and half fey. In "The Iron King", Megan goes into the Fae world to find her human brother. There are more adventures there than I can recount and I don't want to spoil a thing if you haven't read it yet. This short story, tells the tale of Megan (of the Summer fae) being led back to the court of the Unseelie, the Winter, fae. Accompanying her is Winter prince Ash, who has feelings for Megan but is promise bound to deliver her to his mother, Queen Mab. Queen Mab also happens to be the sworn enemy of Megan's father, the Summer King. Something else is following them and the story deals with what that is and why the creature is hunting them. The writing in the short story is an even better example of Kawaga's lush and descriptive, but never boring, language. I was hooked into the story right away. Yes, its short. That makes it a little less than satisying because it is kind of teasing you. I certainly wanted the next book right now. I dont' think you need to read this story to get full enjoyment from the full books in this series, but it is a nice addition and I think its enhanced my enjoyment of the story thus far. I can say that this may be the best written of the Harlequin Teen books thus inroduced to readers so far.
Great Iron Fey Series Short Novella That Is A Must Read for Fans! June 27, 2010 Voracious Reader Rae (Phoenix, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent in between novella to whet the appetites of readers awaiting the upcoming release of The Iron Daughter (Harlequin Teen). I had a minor wish after reading an ARC of the Iron Daughter. I'm happy to say it comes true with this book which features Ash and Meghan as they trek across Winter lands toward the Fae court. Lots of action, adventure and romance keeps this story within the vein of what makes the Iron Fey series so addictive. If I had one more wish, it would be for this to be available in print and audio for my keeper shelf!
The bridge between The Iron King and the Iron Daughter, a must-read for true Fans!!! June 1, 2010 DannyBoowkorm (in a book) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just love the world Julie has created. The magic of the Faery world in danger of technology development nowadays. People forget to dream about magic, so the Faeries disappear slowly. But it's not just this what makes the Iron Fey saga so wonderful, it's the fantastic characters she created. Meghan is such a brave and loyal person that loves with her whole heart and never thinks twice when she has the chance to rescue her beloved. Be it her brother in The Iron King or Ash, the Ice Prince she fell in love with although he would probably not hesitate to kill her if he must.
Honestly, I'm not so sure about that....
The Winter passage is a novella that takes place immediately after The Iron King and fills the missing story to the next book The Iron Daughter. Ash has to bring Meghan to the Winter Court and Meghan follows him just like she promised. Well, never make a bargain with fey ...
But Ash tries to distance himself from Meghan, he knows they might have no future since a Winter Prince and a Summer Princess are not supposed to fall in love with each other..... It breaks my heart! And you have to love Meghan for her incredible faith in Ash and love....
Taken together this is a must read for all Iron Fey saga fans and the perfect bridge to the next boom coming out in August... Although, it was way too short, I need more !!!!
