5 out of 5 stars Emotionally honest, Lyrically deep and one of the best hip-hop albums of the year.   September 4, 2010

I don't know why everybody is hating on Drake. He is not only really talented, but this album can speak to people on many levels. He poured his heart out in every song and left it there. Definitely a great contribution to hip-hop, which is hanging on by a thread, and along with Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z, is keeping hip-hop alive. The songs are so well made, even though a few are slow and bland, but every song contains great lyrics and they work great as singles. Drake has a lyrical style that is untraditional to the standard hip-hop from the 90s, but it works and it's great. I think Drake has a great career ahead of him as a rapper, and his talent is evident in this remarkable debut album.

5 out of 5 stars Haters Hate   July 13, 2010

Most these reviews are by people whom haven't heard the album. So while I feel this album is a 4 I gave it a 5. Listen for yourself. Is it as exciting or magical as his previous releases? No. But it is the most mature sounding Drake we have heard. I think this album would benefit from a more focused sound and less features. Lyrically Drake lacks the punch lines he has gotten famous for, but quietly monsters multi syllable rhyming at times. This is prominent in the first verse of Fireworks. The R&B tracks are awful with the exception of Shut it Down. Drake sounds tired throughout the album as if he is burnt out trying to live up to the hype. A more diverse flow throughout the album would have made a huge difference. It sounds as if he uses the same format in every rap. Drake fans will enjoy the album, while bandwagon listeners will be disappointed.

Listen to Fancy, The Resistance, and Thank Me Now. If you enjoy those tracks this album is for you. If not, I suggest giving The Roots How I Got Over a listen.

The BEST CD since The Carter 3. This CD is honest, real, and every song I vibe with. I generally put this cd in the player and jam until the end. My favorites in order are Unforgettable ft. Jeezy, Light it Up ft. J, Fireworks, Karaoke, Up all night, Good tme, Fancy, Thank me now, then the rest. Excellent CD, Drake did not disappoint...A must have. Now I am just waiting for Nicki Minaj!

I am not the biggest rap/ hip hop fan but there are some artist that stand above the rest. I became interested in Drake after observing his skills. You can understand him. Very crisp and sharp delivery, Great musicality and very good looking. But, surprise he can sing as well. I hope that he would sing more but his real power is his rap. Hip hop afficianado I am not but I no good music when I hear it. I play this all of the time. Thanks for the prompt an speedy delivery. Five stars to the seller.
